The role
The Company is seeking to recruit a QHSE Engineer based at our Torrington facility, situated in the spectacular and diverse region of North Devon. The area benefits from unique natural features such as the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty designated coastline and Exmoor National Park. You will be joining a multi-functional Quality Health & Safety & Environmental (QHSE) team within an engineering organisation with strong links across industry and academia, where a combination of world-class, highly innovative products, robust engineering processes, and use of the latest technologies combine to support our customers, operating within some of the most highly regulated industrial and aerospace sectors worldwide. The successful applicant will provide QHSE support to both UK and international locations and must be willing to travel both nationally/internationally as required to deliver CMTG objectives. The role offers the opportunity for future career development within our growing multi-disciplinary engineering team, with opportunities across the broader CMTG group.
Purpose of post
As a QHSE Engineer working at CMTG you will have the opportunity to both support our range of existing products and shape the future of the corporate QHSE Management Systems and processes. You will be involved in all key business activities ensuring the needs of the customer are met.
Main responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure the effectiveness of all Company Business Management System Approvals (ISO 9001/AS9100/ISO 45001/Achilles B2 Verify).
- Conduct Business Management System Audits against ISO 9001/AS9100/ISO 45001/Achilles B2 Verify requirements and report findings to Management.
- Conduct Quality Software/Hardware Audits requirements and report findings to Management.
- Conduct Supplier Approval Audits and report findings to Supplier Management
- Write and update as necessary Quality System Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Generate Company First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRS) for submission to Customers.
- Review and approve Supplier First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRS).
- Manage the Company's Non-conformance Reporting (NCR) System and ensure that root causes are identified, and robust corrective actions implemented to prevent recurrence
- Implement Quality Planning activities and complete QA actions within the New Product Introduction (NPI) process
- Complete Contract Review activities with respect to Quality Assurance requirements and Ensure all customer expectations are properly addressed.
- Ensure that all nonconforming material is properly dispositioned & root cause analysis is performed in line with company procedures.
- Lead ongoing training of and communication with employees in all aspects of Quality and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities.
- When delegated perform as Quality Assurance Release Signatory for parts & equipment release.
- Maintain QA responsibilities within the Company Configuration Management System.
- Perform Goods Received & Final Inspection activities as required.
- Review and approval of Health & Safety Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Health & Safety Plans
Experience
Essential
- Detailed knowledge of IS0 9001/AS9100 Quality Management System requirements.
- Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience within a high technology manufacturing environment or in a Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) environment.
- Experience in the aerospace, defence, automotive, utility, or similar sectors.
- Experience in conducting Quality System Audits against ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements
- Good understanding of electro/mechanical manufacturing, assembly & test processes
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills at all levels within the organisation.
- Management of Supplier/Supply Chain quality issues and their successful resolution.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally as required.
- Experience in working closely with internal and external customers
- High-level understanding of Configuration Management Systems
- Current driving licence
Desirable
- Understanding of Aerospace software/hardware standards
- Recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate)
- Familiarity and use of Advanced Product Quality Planning techniques such as FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, Gauge R&R, DOE, SPC etc.
- Nuclear QA experience (civil or military)
Qualifications
- HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Manufacturing or Software Engineering
