Helitune’s on-board rotor blade tracker, RT-TipTrak, has been selected as the standard blade tracker for installation on Leonardo-Finmeccanica’s ’ AgustaWestland AW189 and AW169 aircraft.
Designed for internal or external mounting, RT-TipTrak measures helicopter rotor blade height and lead-lag. It is suitable for use either as an integral part of on-board HUMS or carry-on Rotor Track and Balance (RTB) systems and is fully compatible with SAE AS5394 (RITA) data transfer protocols. Advanced blade recognition technology with 14-bit resolution eliminates the need for supplementary blade contrast enhancements such as tip targets or blade repainting.
Helitune has worked closely with Leonardo since the first flight on an AW189 in 2012 to refine RT-TipTrak so that it meets the performance and reliability requirements of Leonardo Helicopters fleet. Two variants of the tracker have been developed to facilitate the physical installation behind windows on the upper port side of the fuselage, tracking the blade tips at the 10 o clock position.
