Engine Vibration Monitoring
In addition to Rotor Track and Balance, another field of application of the Helitune product is the monitoring of helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft engines.
Any unbalance within the rotating components will generate radial loads in the rotation frequencies of the bearings (1R), which will, in turn, produce vibrations with the same frequency in all of the static engine parts. The highest levels of stress and vibration are experienced when critical speeds are reached during a run-up or a run-down.
Nearly all Engine Manufacturers mandate vibration checks during different stages of the turbine cycle in order to monitor any potential imbalance when moving from transient to steady-state. Before being installed in the aircraft, engines are initially checked on test beds, where vibration checks can also detect any latent issues in relation to suspension or misalignment.
Helitune provides complete Monitoring Systems, including cables, transducers, and mountings, designed for utilisation within high-temperature environments and configured to meet the OEM’s requirements in terms of power settings and frequency ranges.
Helitune Engine Vibration Monitoring Systems are approved on a number of different engines.
